Actions Against PoliticiansEnd Support of Politicians That Receive Contributions From Tobacco CompaniesIn order to avoid regulation, it’s clear that tobacco companies will pay large sums to politicians. But in order for politicians to act in an unbiased manner when considering tobacco regulation, they must be free of tobacco’s monetary influence. Check the Common Cause web site to see if your elected officials receive tobacco money. Contact them (hand written letters are always the best) and voice your disapproval of their actions. Ask them, “What are the tobacco companies getting for their contributions?” Communicate to them that their acceptance of tobacco money will cause you to contribute to and support their opponents. |
