NO. 5-1/2 MODIFICATION
In this video series Rob takes a brand new WoodRiver No. 5 ½ and makes several modifications to improve both the ergonomics and the performance. Some of these modifications include: reshaping the handle to better accommodate the pinky finger; adding larger knurling on the adjustment knob; removing unneeded friction from the lateral adjustment lever; and polishing various points of contact for smoother operations. These modifications will not make your plane cut wood any better, however; these modifications will make your plane a little nicer and easier to operate.
- Difficulty Level: Easy
- Number of Episodes: 7
- Skills taught: Shaping wood with a rasp; polishing metal surfaces (I think that we should leave in the “Some of” found in red as these aren’t all of the modifications included)
